Tedtalk: Gever Tulley teaches life lessons through tinkering

Dear Class

Today we're going to do a transcription exercise using tedtalk. What is tedtalk??? It's a website that has video footage of interesting talks given at conferences around the world.

You are going to watch a short talk and transcribe (write down) what you hear. You will need to use Word to do this.

Here is a definition of the word tinker:

tinker verb /ˈtɪŋ.kər//-kɚ/ v [I usually + adverb or preposition] Definition to make small changes to something, especially in an attempt to repair or improve it. He spends every weekend tinkering (about) with his car. I wish the government would stop tinkering with the health service. Compare: fiddle

Here is the link to the talk:

Don't worry if you can't catch every word that Gever says. Leave a space if you are not sure.
